How to effectively export EDEM data

Good day

I am new to EDEM and would like to export a specific data set. We are taking a sample of a bigger batch of particles, between 16mm and 26mm spherical particles, that must represent what is put into the equipment that mixes it to ensure we do not pull an unreliable sample. I need to create a histogram that shows particle size vs % of total mass (shown in the image attached is the result I want). I am able to place a mass sensor and selection sensor into my model, but no idea how to export the correct data.

Hi Nico,

You can use the data export from EDEM Analyst > File > Export Results Data. If you have a sensor setup you can add this in to the section option to just query data inside that specific area of the model.

For example in the query below i'm asking for average mass within a bin selection. This would query all the particles in that bin and give the average. Total/standard,max/min/standard deviation are alternatives to average. 'Standard' as a query gives a value for each particles, so if there were 100 particles in the bin you would get 100 values and then perform your own analysis on that.

I didn't 'specify range' but if set you can query the data in the bin, but only for a sub-set of the particle masses in that bin if required. Although I've shown Average probably you want Total mass and use the range option or type option to choose total mass of a specific size range.

In the 'general' tab you can choose to just export this from one save data point or over a time period.

it does depend how the simulation is setup. For example if the 16-26 mm particles are all setup as unique particle types, you can choose to export just a specific type/size via the Type filter, which would be similar to using the specify range option. You could then setup 6 queries (green + under Q1) each query a different size range or particle type.

You can also export the same data from the Simulator via Simulator Queries, which means you can get the data during run time and don't have to save as much. However if you are just starting out i'd export from the Analyst first as you can easily go back and modify the query without having to re-run the simulation.
