OptiStruct 2025.1 Student Version – License Active but Solver Fails

Hello,

I am using the Altair Student Edition license.

I followed all instructions from the official Altair Student page:

• Registered and verified my academic email
• Generated the activation key
• Installed HWDesktop 2025.1
• Installed HWsolvers 2025.1
• Activated the license successfully using Altair License Utility

HyperMesh launches correctly and works without any issues. I can create and edit models normally.

However, when I try to run OptiStruct (by submitting a .fem file from HyperMesh), the solver fails with the following message:

ERROR WHILE CHECKING LICENSE !Solver FAILED

In some cases I also received CUDA-related DLL errors (missing cublas64_12.dll / cusparse64_12.dll), which I resolved by installing CUDA 12.x. After that, HyperMesh works normally, but OptiStruct still fails during license checking.

Could you please advise why OptiStruct is failing with a license check error, even though HyperMesh is working correctly?

HI Karlo,

You are running it from within Hypermesh Analyze option and not the compute console right?

does this happen with any .fem file or just a particular analysis? if so which type of analysis are you trying to run?

a quick option could be to uninstall and reinstall everything, also make sure the solvers are installed in the same correct folder…
