Simlab motor exportable to other Altair modules

Hello hello,

I’m trying to create a motor in SimLab in such a way that it can be exported to other Altair tools (Twin Activate, Flux Motor, SimSolid, etc.).
I’ve successfully created an assembly with the different parts of my motor and run a simulation.

However, this assembly is not recognized as an “official” parameterizable motor composed of parts from the catalog.

1. How can I create an “official” motor that is usable across all Altair tools?
2. What is the difference between creating a motor as an assembly and creating a motor from the Electromagnetics tab?
   

If anyone has tutorials or documentation on how to do this, it would be very useful.

Thanks for reaching out. Please find my answers for questions

1. How can I create an “official” motor that is usable across all Altair tools?
Flux:
You can create an assembly in SimLab, which can be used Flux directly
Example of Flux : If you can create a 2D Transient electromagnetic solution, choose CAD/mesh bodies in solution, define physics and right click on solution and choose export and open in Flux (You can only export the project but not geometric parameters in this case)

FluxMotor:
In case of FluxMotor the approach/ workflow is different. There is a dedicated help page on SimLab help page on the topic. You can click on question mark icon on SimLab GUI( on right top of screen). This will redirect you to main help page, from there select analysis> FluxMotor to read instructions, check points and Limitations carefully.

Note:  Inner Magnet part, Outer Slot part , Inner Salient Pole part can be fully parameterized and can be exported to FluxMotor. Please SimLab 2026 and FluxMotor 2026 to take full advantage of updates and improvements

Other tools:
The approaches for each tool would be different and we can guide you accordingly. For this, we would need some additional information like goal/ objective, geometric details etc. I would suggest you to please create a support request on this topics and our support team will be happy to guide you.

2. What is the difference between creating a motor as an assembly and creating a motor from the Electromagnetics tab?

The tools in Electromagnetic tabs are helpful to create motor geometry, (In some cases both geometry and mesh) quickly using dimensions as inputs. You can refer some of this video for your reference.
