Slipping & Shearing in a bolted joint

I have a bolted joint modelled with PBEAM as bolt and connected to plates with rigids in hypermesh - optistruct

Due to external loading how can I determine whether the bolted joint or the interface is sliding or slipping

Whether the joint is opening or not how much is the clamping force remaining

Friction and contact open/closing are non-linear parameters, if you want to capture them you have to run non linear analysis

Hello,

1D bolts are simpler and faster to model, making them suitable for large assemblies when only global load transfer and pretension effects are of interest, but they cannot capture local stresses or detailed contact behavior. In contrast, 3D bolts allow for a more accurate representation of stress distribution, local effects around threads and bolt heads, and interactions with surrounding components.

To perform whether a contact is opening or not should i perform non linear analysis or can i get that done by linear.

I have a setup in which i need to consider friction at the interface (if i use static friction = 0.3) in property type in interface and perform linear analysis will the friction co-efficient influence anything or should i go with non-linear

I did perform Non-linear analysis , i performed a loadstep for peretension of 2000N and using CNTNLSUB calling the pretension loadstep in another loadstep with an external load of 250N,

I used ELFORCE and CONTF card to check forces and contact status,

In the first load step the axial force gradually increased to 2000N and contact is in closed state,

In the second load step having 5 time steps, the axial force gradually reduce like 2000N, 1950N, 1800N, 1750N and in the 5th step it directly reduced to 0.6N and the contact is open only in the last time step,

I tried increasing preload and reducing workload , in all iterations the axial force in the last time step is 0.6N or less and contact is open
