Groups on similar CADs within one database

Hello, Altair-Community,

In SimLab I run the simulation for a tank, which has 4 kinds of inlets - see the attached figure:

The outlet remains the same.

It means, that I have 4 CADs in the assembly browser.

I have created the surface groups on the first CAD I need and would like to apply as many as possible of them on a next CAD.

Is it possible with some kind of transfer or export?

Because I didn't find how to do that, my approach was simply to create new groups:

Could you please give your ideas or experience?

I have tried to use "Deselect", and you can see, how it works.
That is exact, what I needed!

Hello,
You can use automated selection depending on the similarities. You can select surfaces by plane, by color, similar. Here a screenshot for a few options:

thanks for feedback!
I have tried to do that with two simple bodies. The lower cylinders of both bodies are equal.

On the left one I have created the group from shell surfaces from the lower cylinder.

Then I have applied "show faces by color".

SL chooses the whole body. That happens if I change the reference faces and the input body.

What do I do wrong?

Hello,

By color works with faces that have specific colors from their metadata. This can be set beforehand and then used mixed with scripting. I believe it select all surfaces, because the faces have all the same face color. The cylinder are the same only located
