Contour plot of strains

I feel very embarrassed to ask since this must be an incredibly basic thing, but how do I get a contour plot of strain from HyperMesh (using results of an Optistruct model)?

I can get contour plots of stress easily enough, but strain just seems to not be an option.

I have tried activating the Strain Global_output_request card as shown here, yet still find no option for strain data type in the contour options.

Yes that is all you should need to do. Make sure your elements support strain. and make sure the results file you loaded requested strain

OK, I think I found my problem.

It seems that "Status" in the Global_Output_Request Card was unchecked for some reason. I gather that "status" is basically a switch that deactivates the card if unchecked? As such, the request for strain output that I thought I added is thus disregarded? (I couldn't find documentation to suggest that is true, but it seems like a good guess.)

By the way, I'm not quite sure I understand your comment "make sure the results file you loaded requested strain" How would I go about checking the file to see if it includes strain?
