Trouble with activation of Student Bundle

When trying to activate the license using almutil_gui.exe, I am reveiving an error (Error: Unable to access license store". And therefore I can not activate, the license for AI Studio. Is it a problem of my computer or is there something missing from the guide?

Hi NBC,

In the same location as almutil_gui.exe is almutil.exe.

Please run .\almutil —conntest

This will tell you if you are able to connect to the licensing server - here is the output that I get - note it checks for connectivity to four different addresses and in each case the Connection test was successful.

If it is unsuccessful connecting to one of those, this is a connectivity issue that you would need to resolve.

I have tried this, and connection tests were successful.

However, when I open almutil_gui, even if Managed Licensing allows me to connect to my account:

Then, in the activation window the error message appears, and even though I add my activation code I cannot click Acivate:

What do you think may be the problem?

Thank you for the additional information. On my system, when I look at that same screen, instead of the error you see, I see the following as a link C:\Users\nlinsky\AppData\Local\.altair_licensing\USLT89\licenses

which leads me to believe that the error may not be talking about trying to access some remote store, but rather the above location (with your username in place of "nlinsky" and your computer's name in place of "USLT89") and is unable to.

In a File Explorer, on the same machine where you are getting the error, could you try to navigate to that directory (bearing in mind that you will need to "show hidden files" in order to see the .altair_licensing portion of the path)?

If you don't find that path, can you try to create it?

If you do find the path, can you try to create a test.txt file in that directory?

Thank you for your response. I have found this directory in my file explorer: C:\Users\NataliaBenítez\AppData\Local\.altair_licensing\BTX_nbenitez. However, inside BTX_nbenitez there is no licenses folder but there are two .cfg files. I have tried creating the licenses folder with a test.txt file (C:\Users\NataliaBenítez\AppData\Local.altair_licensing\BTX_nbenitez\licenses\test.txt). And I have then tried to open the almutil_gui to see if these solved the error, nevertheless I still receive the same message. Should I add any document to the newly created licenses folder?

I don't know if this would have anything to do with the problem, but I ahve found a file of similar structure: C:\Users\NataliaBenítez\.AltairRapidMiner\AI Studio\shared\.altair_licensing\licenses

Hi Natalia, you're quite welcome. At this point I will have to do some more digging and ask around. I might also ask you to open a Support ticket so that we can work more closely with you.

But in the meantime, I wonder if you could take a look at those config files, redact any sensitive information, and then include them here?

Oh, something else to try would be to start up AI Studio, which should then prompt you to register your licensing, then follow the prompts and see if you can successfully activate that way.

Please let me know the results of that.

Also, Perhaps best to disconnect from the managed licensing,

Please set an environment variable with name ALM_HHWU and value F and let us know if you are able to activate,

You may have to reinstall with admin permissions, i.e. right click and run the exe as an administrator, and make sure you have read and write permissions in the location you are installing etc. and have admin permissions to your computer drives in general.

Sorry for my delayed response, when I try this I receive this screen:

When I try to configure Altair License, I then receive this:

When I go through RapidMiner License use, it doens't accept my Altair credentials. If I try to enter the code manually in this screen, it says Status invalid:

And if I try to create a RapidMiner account, I can't.

Hello Rahul,

I’ve set the environment variable ALM_HHWU=F, reinstalled AI Studio with admin rights, withput changing the directory. And then I have tried in a folder I know I have full read/write permissions. However, the activation still fails. Could you please advise on the next step?

It is still likely a permission issue or something similar related to the path license is stored,

Highly recommend using any email ID and follow the process here instead,

if not, and to debug the student edition license issue on your computer, set the following environment variables, set them as user environment variables, Almutil would need to be restarted to inherit the new environment

ALM_LOG_ENABLED=1
ALM_LOG_LEVEL=dev
ALM_LOG_FACILITY=syslog

And run the test again. This will place a file in %TEMP% called something like ALM_<date>_<time>_pid.log,
