Coupling EDEM-Optistruct Geometry problem.

Hi,

I try the last option who is couple Optistruct with Altair EDEM (version 2023) for that i'm using ALtair Simlab 2025. the problem I'm facing now is that the Gear imported in simlab does not appear in Altair EDEM after the coupling and i don't know the raison. Also I would like to give a rotary motion to the Gear but i don't Know if i have to do that in simlab or in EDEM after the coupling.Best regard,Ardain.

Hi Adrian,

The geometry from Simlab is not transfered to EDEM because coupling server is not activated in EDEM.

Also, if the geometry transferred to EDEM, the name of the geometry in EDEM is based on type of motion i.e in this case geometry name should be displaced as DISP.

Also, just to let you know if your trying to run as a rotation motion of gear then i would suggest please wait for few days SimLab 2025.1 will be released where enforced velocity and acceleration is added.

With student version unable to simulation more than 10,000 particles.

However, i could see coupling server shown with red tick mark. Just click the coupling server it will be active

Hi Adrian,

You will need to use the same version (2025) for both products. You can see more information here including links to some cases which have moving geometry

Thank you very much — I will try to do that.
I am currently facing another issue: my student license does not allow me to run simulations involving more than 10,000 model elements. However, for my research, I need to use around 200,000 particles.
Is there any way to overcome this limitation?
