Taking 282 hours to simulate a 3 mm particle seems excessive, even for detailed simulations — unless it's a very complex model or being run on a slow system with limited resources. The simulation time depends on

Timestep looks small, due to particle size.
Do you have a good GPU available? It should speed-up your processing time, depending also if you have anough GPU memory.

To add you can also estimate simulation run time via the spreadsheet in the link below. You can estimate run times for different systems (CPU or GPU). The estimated total time in EDEM updates as it runs, the first time-step with creating particles often takes the longest, so it may improve it's estimate as you run further.
