Modify the Default Temperatures for Fragments Produced by the Tavares Breakage Model

Hi Support Team,

Recently I'm studying the effect of particle breakage on thermal conduction of particle bed, and the temperature of the particle bed gradually increases from 273K. I found that the fragments particle generated for replacing the parent particle are with the temperature 0K rather than that of parent particles. What should I do to make the initial temperature of the fragments the same as the temperature of the parent particle when it breaks?

I'll be grateful if there's any advice.

hi Gary,

As the breakage model is built-in I don't believe there is a way to transfer the temperature to the fragments, I've added this as a feature request to the development team to review.

Hi Stephen,

Thanks for your prompt reply. I remember that the Tavares breakage model was used through the API in the EDEM 2021 version. Is it possible to get access of the original file and modify it so that the child particles can directly inherit the current temperature properties of the parent particle?

By the way, just to confirm, is it physically reasonable that the initial temperature of the child particles is the same as the temperature when the parent particle breaks?
