    Hello Durgesh,

Please follow the instruction here https://community.altair.com/community?id=community_blog&sys_id=b3ea3ce01bbf5cd0a5f742eddc4bcbc5

For a quick turnaround, Place the license file into the Altair_installation_directory/security folder. The programs automatically look here and as long as its name correct then you will be all set.

    Regards,

    Sourav

    Hello Sourav,

I tried everything but nothing seems to work so far. I have attached the screen shot for your reference.

The steps I tried so far

    1) changed the license name to altair_lic from secfeko.

2)tried to put the license file in security folder

    3) checked the host id with almutil tool

5)set the system variables name to Altair_LIC_PATH

    6) since i dont have browse option in my system , i copied the folder destination and pasted under variable value.

    7) the above steps i repeated changing the license file to secfeko and error changes to 9005 instead of 9161.

Please help me out , as I have project to complete. You can also reach me at 862-271-6342 or we can do a remote troubleshooting.

    Looking forward to your reply.

    Thank you!

After downloading the license file, rename it to altair_lic.dat and place the same in the <installation directory>/security folder

If you have already done the above and still face the error, Use windows folder options / view > display file name extensions, to make sure the file is named altair_lic.dat and not altair_lic.dat.dat,

You need to confirm if the Ethernet address in the license file is the correct one and matches the one in your machine.

When you open the license file in a text editor you will see an Ethernet address there in a line that says 'ETHERNET =

The Ethernet ID is the ID of your machine which is exactly 12 hexadecimal numbers. For example D4WRF478F398

Run ipconfig/all in command window and check for physical address under Ethernet adapter local area connection:

     222.png

The listed physical address under Ethernet adapter local area connection should be used to generate the license file, if there is no listing of Ethernet adapter local area connection, the address under Wireless Adapter LAN Wifi must be used.

That means if the address provided as above does not match the one in the license file, please request for the license file again with the correct Ethernet ID here https://studentedition.altair.com/

    Durgesh,

You seem to be modifying the name of the secfeko file to altair_lic.dat, this is wrong, the secfeko file or other files in the installation directory should not be modified.

when you request for the student edition a license file is sent to you by mail, it is already name altair_lic.dat , this file should be placed in the security folder.

you seem to be setting a variable with the wrong variable name, you should name the variable ALTAIR_LICENSE_PATH, however this is only if the license file is placed somewhere other than the security folder,

read this article - https://community.altair.com/community?id=community_blog&sys_id=b3ea3ce01bbf5cd0a5f742eddc4bcbc5&view_source=featuredList and you should make sure each step is followed exactly

    Hello Sourav,

Now the launcher is just sitting idle , without any error message.

I bought another laptop and set up the license on that , when I attempt to open the cadfeko software, it pretends that it's going to launch but after circling of the cursor the launcher stays still, nothing opens.

    Still stuck

All right, Now since everything is set up correct , my launcher is sitting idle and nothing happens when i try to double click on cadfeko under launcher(no error message).

i renamed the actual downloaded license file hwFeko2021_edu_win64.exe to altair_lic.dat and placed it in security folder of altair feko installed directory.

I have also shared the images of my environment variables credentials along with the license file placement.

i also verified under license utility option from launcher the ethernet id and it also shows Bluetooth ethernet id , both correctly matched .

    1) Wireless Lan adapter wifi physical address ( i used this one when requesting license)

    2) ethernet adapter bluetooth network connections.

nothing seems to be missing from my side , I even checked firewall , where all the altair feko file is allowed.

Please help asap, my project deadline is april 23.

    Thank you!

You have renamed the executable (the software installer) as altair_lic.dat, this is not right.

note that the license file is a .dat file attached to your email, it is this file that should be placed in the security folder
