How can I combine edges/lines in Hypermesh?
Hello,
after creating a geometry (solid) out of a FE-Mesh, there are many lines/edges in the geometry. For meshing I can use the edge edit -> toggle funtion. But when I export the model as a step-file to Abaqus the lines are still visible. Is it possible to delete or combine these lines completely?
thanks in advance

Hello,
As far as in Hypermesh, the only option to remove those surfaces edges permanently is to Unsplit them. But that only typically works one edges you have manually created.
If you suppress them, they will only be ignored during meshing.
On CAD creation there should be an option to simplify or adjust the edge tolerance.
Is there a reason you are creating CAD in Hypermesh and not meshing?
Thanks

Hello, yes there is a reason. I created the geometry because I got a FE-Mesh without the solid. So I could create the geometry out of the FE-Mesh. Thanks for your responseJason Craanen_20442 said:Hello,

Hello,
My question is more why aren't you continuing the meshing in Hypermesh as well. Here you can clean those surface lines by suppressing them and the mesher will ignore them.
The surface edges are part of the CAD created from the mesh topology and cannot be removed.
You can try changing the complexity and tolerance on surface creation to see if that helps.

You could also try using stl instead.
