Matching item codes

I have the following issue: I have a list of products (incl. item name, liter size and degree of alcohol) from a supplier and have to match it with the ones from our company (with a list that shows comparable product attributes (however, exact product names can vary, but will be similar). Currently it's a manual process, but I would like to investigate possibilities to automate this with a process. During university I followed a course for Rapidminer, but it's a while ago... Do you have some suggestions for me how to structure my process?

the tricky question here is: How do you define similarity between two items? Seems like it is not equality, right?
