Hi.

Ubuntu is not a supported Linux version for altair products, but what is the experience from altair/the user community.

Does hyperworks + optistruct run /work on ubuntu or should I pursue one of the different other distributions?

    Hello,

Ubuntu is not an officially supported platform for HyperWorks.

Depending on the Ubuntu version you are using, HyperWorks may not work and you may have to wait for 2023 release.

What version of Ubuntu are you using?

    Thakns,

    Matthieu

    Hi Matthieu.

That would be 20.04 which is the current LTS version.

    Leon,

HyperWorks 2022.3 will work on Ubuntu 20.

As Ubuntu is using dash as its default shell, you will need to configure it to use bash if you see the following error when starting Hyperworks:

    /opt/altair/2022.3/altair/scripts/hwx: 125: source: not found

    In a shell, type

    sudo dpkg-reconfigure dash

Answer No to the question Use dash as the default system shell (/bin/sh)?

You should then be all set. If you see any issue, please let us know, keeping in mind that Ubuntu is not an officially supported platform.

    Thanks,

    Matthieu
