Difference between freeze and Tied in optistruct solver
What is the difference between Freeze and Tied contact except DOF selection in Tied?
Whether in freeze contact , if gap exist between master and slave say 0.6 mm , the contact will be enabled /detected only when slave touches the master ? Until then both master and slave are not integral ( seperate parts) . Once gap is closed, the parts will not seperate.
Whereas in Tied contact , both the parts are integral before the part closes its gap if srchdis = 0.6 given. If srchdis not given , the tied contact will not be established initially.
Is my understanding correct ? kindly suggest difference between freeze and Tied contact.

Both will have almost same function, actually.
If you define a FREEZE/TIE contact, anything lying inside the SEARCHDISTANCE will be identified and "glued" together, with no relative displacement.
The gap will not change, as it will be created in the very beginning, based on the searchdistance.
It can be used in both lienar and NL analysis.
