FP-Growth memory consumption

I tried to mine association rules by using the template "Market Basket Analysis", I found the memory comsuption is huge even I only have several thousand rows. For my case, I have 2000 rows data after aggregation, but the operator FP-Growth used more than 10G memory, and I finally get the out of memory error. Can anybody help on how to use this operator? Or any practice could be shared?
