Stress strain curve and material definition

Hello everyone,

I have to analyze component with rubber material. I am fairly new to this kind of material.

I have stress strain curves of those materials in tension. But actually the component is going to be under compression. So is it ok to use that data for defining material? (I feel it is not right as rubber is non linear)

What else data is needed for correct definition of the material? Also while defining the material through stress strain curve should the stress and strain be engineering or true?

Regards,

Bharat
