Hi,
I am trying to run rapidminer version rapidminer-5.0.008 on a CENTOS machine (release 4.5).
I am using this java version
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
java version "1.6.0_21"
Java(TM) SE Runtime Environment (build 1.6.0_21-b06)
Java HotSpot(TM) Server VM (build 17.0-b16, mixed mode)
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
I run the rapidminer gui script and it doesnt progress after these messages.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
found Java as /home/me2/NewFolder/tools/java/jre1.6.0_21/bin/java
No maximum Java memory defined, using 512 Mb...
Starting RapidMiner from '/home/me2/NewFolder/tools/rapidminer', using classes from '/home/me2/NewFolder/tools/rapidminer/lib/rapidminer.jar'...
Aug 4, 2010 8:10:55 AM com.rapid_i.Launcher ensureRapidMinerHomeSet
INFO: rapidminer.home is '/home/me2/NewFolder/tools/rapidminer'.
Aug 4, 2010 8:10:55 AM com.rapid_i.Launcher main
INFO: Launching RapidMiner, platform ANY
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Any advice on what could be wrong ? I havent used java before so i am not sure where to start debugging.
Thanks.

Hi bharathseshadri10,
could you try another java application in order to see if its a problem of RapidMiner or just java in general.
Thanks,
Sebastian

Thanks. I found it was due to some weirdness in KDE. It works fine under gnome now.
