The Session began with a brief overview of Templates (Detail, Append, Footer, Etc.) in Monarch Complete v.2021 before diving into the LIVE Questions.

The Session began with our Expert reviewing the following:

  • Session began with Chris providing overview of the various Templates used to capture data fields from report/files in Monarch Complete.  {Covered within approximately the first 40-mins of the Session}

LIVE Questions submitted:

Monarch:
1.  How to use Change Groups in DPS?  In the Change History, if you right click, there is an option "Add Change to Group"

  • This allows you to group a set of changes into a group, for example:  let's say you rename 5 columns, you add all 5 'renamed' changes into a group and call it "Rename Columns".  OR you delete 5 columns, then you select all 5 'delete' columns and add it to the "Delete Columns" group.
  • You can take it an additional step further and Export those changes to create a 'Change List' which you can then in return "Import" and apply those group of changes onto another Workspace as long as that new Workspace contains the same fields you were manipulating.

2.  Is there a way to copy a column format you set to the next column? I.e. Aging Column current, 30, 60, 90+ that use currency. Currently, I am manually performing the same format setup for each amount column.?

  • Yes.  You can hold the Control Key and select all the numeric or date columns and apply FORMAT for ALL the selected columns at time.
  • If you create a "Change List" that contains those manipulations you can then import that and have the changes be applied all at once with the assumption those fields exist.
    • OR  You may possibly look to create a Macro- see reference link below.

3.  What is the practical usage for the Library Icon in the right Upper Corner in DPS Mode?

  • The purpose of the DPS Library is if a user needs to access a dataset frequently for various Workspaces, specially if the dataset is on Oracle database, SQL database, Excel or MS Access, then the dataset can be saved in the DPS Library, and can be loaded into any workspace that needs it. The datasets that are saved in the DPS Library is per user session, therefore, they are only available to user that saves them .

4.  Can you re-order the changes within Change History?

  • YES.  Just make sure as you move the change, which you may drag/drop into the new position, it will not affect some of your other changes and still provide you with the end-results you need.

5. Is the grouping function in Transform can only capture the first/last row?  What if I would like to capture information in the middle as well, what do I do?.

  •  Unfortunately no.  There is no aggregated function to return the middle value in the Group Transformation.
