Panopticon 2023.1 offers improved data management with row-level data access controls, improved analysis options with new aggregation types, new filtering options in tables, new visualization types in X/Y graphs, and new multi-criteria alerts as well as faster performance.
This short video highlights the major improvements in Panopticon 2023.1:
Data Management
- Row-level data access control lets you create access policies for data tables to ensure that individual users and groups of users get access only to the rows of data that they are authorized to see. You may also create permission tables to map between data values and usernames or group names. This enables dashboard designers to create a single report for the entire organization that uses the same data sources; different users will see different parts of the data as determined by the data policy.
Tighter control of data access and visibility, more forgiving connectors, easy-to-understand column identifiers, and clear data lineage are all critical to robust and secure data management.
Aggregations and Calculations
- A new ‘Sibling Rank Percent’ aggregation returns a normalized, 0-1 ranking value that makes it possible to compare sibling rank from groups of different sizes.
- A new ‘Cumulative Sum Percent’ aggregation enables the creation of Pareto Charts in the new X-Axis Visualization, though the combination of a bar chart and a line visualization.
The availability and choice of the correct aggregation method is critical to extracting more value from source data and generating useful insights into that data.
Dashboard Design, Visualizations, and Analytics
- A new type of filter for table visualizations allows filtering on aggregated numeric values or text values found in an individual column. Users can access this new filter directly from column titles, facilitating fast and more intuitive comparisons between data in separate columns.
- X-axis and Y-axis visualizations support the new box visualization type (similar to the existing band visualization) that displays value spans for nominal data. The multi-layer, multi-variable, multi-visualization functionality of the X-axis and Y-axis graphs enables customers to assemble wide varieties of graph types and visualization combinations.
- Alerts for data monitoring now support multiple criteria within the same alert definition, equivalent to using the OR operator between criteria. This allows users to implement more complex alert triggering criteria.
- Administrators can now allow or disallow sharing of bookmarks between users.
Building and using Panopticon dashboards is more intuitive than ever, reducing the amount of time required to learn the software and interpret the data presented in dashboards.
