Contact problems

Hi,

I am working on a displacement analysis of a structure based on load applied by an actuator. The ram of the actuator is in complete contact with the face of the structural member but after run I am seeing a very less portion showing contact force vectors, showing that the contact is not complete in that zone. Kindly let me know how to address this issue.

Pleas find the attached gif of contact force vectors for reference.

Hi Gopal,

In the simulation also it seems like ram is not in complete contact with the structural member.

Please recheck the load applied and ensure that it is applied on all the nodes. Also please check the interface defined. You can also try defining the interface with a contact surface. If the issue persist, please share the model file through the secure dropbox so that we can review the same.

Hi,

I have defined interface TYPE 19 for the ram and the structure.Ram is modelled as rigid body and imposed displacement is applied on the same.

I have send the file. Kindly go through the same.

Hi Gopal,

For the rigid body switch ICoG to 3, run the simulation and review.

I ran it with IcOg:3, no effect in contact force vectors.
