Release Highlights - PollEx UDE 2021.1
Let's see the highlights of Altair PollEx UDE release 2021.1.
Overview
PollEx UDE is an optimized unified management system for electrical-design in a mechanical-design based product lifecycle management (PLM) system. It manages ECAD linked part-schematic-PCB design processes and improves design quality through applying DFx and CAE verification in the development stage. PollEx UDE can be linked with the customer’s commonly-used legacy system, such as human resource system (HR), component information system (CIS), product lifecycle management (PLM) and enterprise resource plan (ERP). Through these interconnected systems, customers can improve development efficiency by effectively managing asset-efficient processes, components, and electrical design data.
UDE Platform
PollEx UDE comprises three modules:
- UPMS (Unified Part Management System): Manages all processes from part creation to discontinuation.
- UDMS (Unified Design Management System): Manages all processes and design data from development planning to completion. Design analysis and verification can be performed in this module.
- UBMS (Unified Bill of Materials Management System): Manages BOM data for assembling PCBs.
The role of PollEx UDE:
- Integrates electronic part information and library, schematic and PCB designs to deliver the extracted design information to the customer’s design and production management system so that information flows are shared without interruption.
- Linked with the industry’s most popular legacy system and ECAD tools.

What is UPMS (Unified Part Management System)?
- Module for standardizing and managing library and part catalog information used in electrical design in the system and manages part from creation to disposal with its history.
- Prevents wasted budget cause by duplicate parts registration through managing unified parts.
- Shares component information with customer’s component information management system and design tools.
- Searching design using specified parts; see Figure 3.
- Inserting selected part to schematic design directly; see Figure 4.

What is UDMS (Unified Design Management System)?
- Manages design data from creation to finish through managing each development stage, provides automated creation system for development outputs and integrating data by server system.
- Checks for suitability of part and consistency between schematic, PCB and BOM automatically.
- Easy to find and review design data from creation to finish; see Figure 6.
- Verify design availability using PollEx DFx and analysis functions; see Figure 7.

What is UBMS (Unified BOM Management System)?
- Generates BOM using the list of parts extracted during the design check in process and supports edit, report, manage variant and back annotation functions.
- User can reflect the BOM changes to schematic design using back annotation; see Figure 9.
