Machine Learning Explained: Addressing the Elephant in the Room

If you are anything like me, the concept of machine learning was very daunting and often felt like this giant elephant in the room that was quickly becoming unavoidable.
I knew it was a very important and at times controversial topic that practically everyone was starting to adopt into their lives and work processes. My head was often spinning with so many questions. What is it? What is the difference between machine learning and artificial intelligence or are they the same? Is machine learning going to replace me and put me out of work? What are the different types of machine learning?
Fortunately, I had a team of very patient and intelligent coworkers coupled with a series of great introductory videos to help explain the fundamentals of machine learning. Suddenly the elephant was gone and this topic didn’t feel so intimidating. In fact, once I developed a very basic understanding of machine learning, I was constantly exploring opportunities to leverage the technology to improve the way I work.
