Firenze Race Team employs HyperWorks to strengthen stiffness to Weight Ratio for Formula Student Car Component

Firenze Race Team is the oldest Italian Formula Student team established in 2000. The team have built 6 cars and won several prizes throughout past Formula Student competitions. For their 7th car design - FR-15T, the team needed to meet weight reduction and stiffness requirements. One component that was redesigned and optimised was a suspension rocker. In order to attain these strict requirements, students had to use CAE tools from the HyperWorks suite. HyperMesh in particular was used to create a model and then OptiStruct was employed to optimise the overall design to maximise the stiffness to weight ratio of the component. View case study...
