How to trap multiple lines of text and relate it to the 1st line of detail text?

My Detail Trap has from one to 3 lines of text.  What is the best way to trap the maximum number of detailed text to relate to the 1st line which contains a numeric values in the first two position on the 1st line.   Perhaps I can allow for up to 3 fields and the concatenate the three field into one calculated field.Is

Is there a simpler way?

Create your detail template as you normally would.  If you are using DPS, for the field with multiple lines, click on the "Advanced" tab on the right side of report design (Under Edit Field Properties).  Under "END FIELD ON", select Blank field values: and set that value to 1.  It should terminate automatically because it will run into the next detail line.

In Classic, you want to select your field and then choose "Edit Field" (above your trap line), and then select the Advanced tab on the next screen, and then follow the same instructions as above.
