Where do I find the Magnets' Skew factor? How the factor is calculated?

Hi everyone.

 

I am simulating a PM machine with a skew angle on the Permanent Magnets.

 

My questions are:

1. How is the magnets' skew factor calculated?
2. Where do I find the magnets' skew factor value (first harmonic at least)?
3. How much important is the number of layers for the skew calculation?
4. How many layers should I implement for a skew calculation?

Please find bellow the answers to your questions:

1- This is an input, so the user should know in advance his skewing angle or factor.

2- can you give us more details please ? again, the skewing angle is an input.

3-The number of layers is important because each layer is actually a 2D computation, at the end the full result is an interpollation between layers. So the more you have layers more the results are accurate, and more the time computation is too long. So by default they are set to 3 layers, you can increase to 5, but more than this, the ratio accuracy/time computation is not interesting.

4- let it at 3 Layers, you can try to increase to 4 or 5.
