for the OptiStruct solver, the submodelling is described in the Help -> other applications -> tutorials -> OS-2070: Topology Optimization of a Reduced Model using DMIG. The steps are:1) Generate a superelement (considering stiffness / forces on the whole structure)2) Include the superelement in the smaller sub model3) Set up the analysis or optimization in a model with a superelement4) Post-process the optimized results in HyperView
