The way back to CAD
I think this topic may interest a lot of people out there. Facing the challenge to get the results out of Hyperview into your CAD program.
My setup is the following: Topology optimization done by optistruct and reviewed in Hyperview should be exported to ProE as a solid. The only option now available to me is to go in Hyperview and select Export -> ISO Surface and get a .stl file. This type of file is accessible with ProE but it is not a solid.
Therefor there must be a workaround for this kind of problem. As in any optimization process, the design has to be implemented by CAD someday I think it is very helpful, if someone could explain the state of the art procedure in this forum.
I would certainly appreciate it!

Merula,
Geometry recovery in HyperWorks is done through a specialised tool called OSSmooth.
OSSmooth is a semi-automated design interpretation software, facilitating the recovery of a modified geometry resulting from a structural optimization, for further use in the design process and FEA reanalysis.
The interpreted design from OSSmooth can be exported as a finite element mesh in the bulk data format, as IGES surfaces, as a stereolithography file, or as a Hyper3D file.
For more information on OSSmooth and how to use it,seehttp://www.altairhyperworks.com/hwhelp/Altair/hw11.0/help/hwsolvers/hwsolvers.htm?geometry_recovery_utility___ossmooth_2.htm
