Hello there,
I am attempting to run a base line model analysis of a seagoing barge. My objective is to maximize my payload while reducing weight. As such, I thought I run a analysis with my base line loads to see if the barge is able to take the weight but it is failing as the displacement seems to be very large.
The length of the model is 70m, breadth 20m and depth 7m.
Density of barge is 7850 kg/m3. I am trying to apply a load of 400 tonnes uniformly distributed over the deck which gives less than 0.5 tonnes/m2 and the structure is failing. I suspect I may be applying incorrect boundary conditions.
What boundary conditions and restraints do you reckon I should be applying for this kind of structure?
Thanks!
