Hello,

I have done a modal analysis. Now I would like to get the modal damping. What is the best way to this? What other values can I derive besides modes and frequency?

Thank you!

i'm sorry..can you describe a little better what you want?

Modal analysis is undamped. Modal damping would be an input for your model. You can calibrate your damping factors based in a test result from a transient analysis for example.

From modal analysis, besides the frequency and mode shapes (eigenvalues and eigenvectors) you can obtain strain energies and kinetic energies (ESE, EKE) to understand better where your structure concentrates more energy. You can evaluate also effective mass and understand what are the most important vibration modes in each direction.
