Hi,

In mild steel, it have upper and lower yield points in material curve causing by its property (low carbon). It called as yield point phenomenon.

Can I model this phenomenon by using Law2 material model in Radioss? Or else what material model can I use to model this?

I tried to use Law2 model and change strain rate following this but didn't have any result.

I used a tensile test simulation to plot material curve.

Thanks.

    Hi

Material LAW2 behavior is always a monotonical increasing plastic stress vs strain curve.

One alternative is to use  /MAT/LAW36, in which you can use the material curve , true plastic strain vs true stress.

    I hope this is helpful.

    Hi Rogerio,

Yeah, LAW36 would be the most convenient way in this case. But I want to investigate a material model (LAW36 likes a tabulated law) that's able to model that effect.

As I read in a report (above figure), it's able to use Law2 by changing the Strain Rate Coefficient. Have you tried to do this before?

    Thanks,
