Hello Team,

I intend to do Transient heat transfer analysis in SIMLAB by applying Constant Volumetric heat(Heat Source). I have applied dynamic loading for Convection. Apart from this, i have created Initial conditions (Ambient temp), thermal contacts, and defined proper load collectors, tstep appropriately.

Heat Source is constant in my scenario. I cannot define load by a table. Also, Volumetric heat is being used which takes Heat flux of the equation.

I would be glad if you could help me the methodology how to solve a transient heat transfer problem with constant Vol. heat loading.

I am attaching you the database file for your reference.

    Hi Karthick Somasekaran,

You can check the Learn Thermal Analysis with Altair OptiStruct eBook at https://altairuniversity.com/free-ebook-thermal-analysis-with-optistruct/ and the SimLab Learning Center, there is a tutorial under Analysis>Solutions>Thermal>Transient Heat Transfer Colling Time Study - Casted Housing.

    Hello,

This has been discussed and resolved with the help of a new tool added in SimLab 2022 beta version:
Time dependent load magnitude for Heat Source.

Define a constant curve for heat source which will write/activate the respective cards in the OptiStruct deck.

    Thanks
