Is there a way to install AcuOut as a standalone package? I need to be able to easily convert ACUSIM results to Ensight or other data formats.
There is no standalone executable - only the complete CFD Solvers package. It should already be there as part of the installation on the machine where you run AcuSolve. Are you not seeing it?
AcuOut doesnt always work. The only method I know of to access it is to open simlab and look it up in the search bar. Sometimes its present but most of the time it's not. I will have to use acuTrans, but I don't understand the syntax very well at this time.
If you've installed SimLab + Additionals (to get access to the solvers), but not HWCFD Solvers, you may have difficulty consistenly getting/executing acuOut. I would suggest creating a Desktop shorcut to the following file:
C:\Program Files\Altair\2023.1\SimLab\bin\win64\solvers\Acusolve\acusolve\win64\bin\acusim.bat
(This is the default path for 2023.1 - other versions would have a similar path you can find.)
This will create a Command Prompt, with the environment established. If you issue acuOut from that Command Prompt, it should always be able to find and open acuOut.
If you have installed the HW CFD Solvers package, you should have access to an existing AcuSolve Command Prompt:Windows Start > Altair 2023.1 > AcuSolve Cmd Prompt 2023.1
Bottom-line you always need to use an AcuSolve-established command prompt.
In case you're using HyperMesh CFD / HyperWorks CFD, from the Solution ribbon you also have access to the Convert tool - basically another GUI to acuTrans.
