Altair OptiStruct - Inspire vs. HyperWorks?

Hello!

I have a question about the solver OptiStruct for topology optimization: What is the difference between performing a topology optimization in Inspire versus in HyperWorks, regarding the solver? I read that the solver is the same for both, but I expect that there is a difference in the results.

Kind regards,

Nadine

Hi Nadine, the solver is the same - OptiStruct. HyperWorks just offers more flexibility/control in meshing, load setup, optimization parameters, etc. The difference in results is likely to be caused by the difference in mesh, if you are able to make the load setup and optimization parameters exactly the same in HyperWorks and Inspire.

Actually, Inspire generates .fem file (OptiStruct input deck). You can import it into HyperMesh to check the mesh and setups.
