Load steps 2 building up on load step 1 nl static

Hello,

I am performing a nonlinear static analysis. In the first load step I want to close a gap by using a SPC with a certain displacement value. In the second load step I want to apply a temperature on the model with the already closed gap.

My problem is that load step 2 starts at zero with the open gap. How can I start load step 2 at the end of load step 1 with the already closed gap?

I am working with Hypermesh 2020.1 and Optistruct.

Thank you very much in advance.

Ben

    Hello Benjamin,
You need to use the CNTNLSUB option when defining a NL subcase to specify that is is not a brand new loading (which is default) but must be launched following another one.
Youmust also know that when defining a loading for a load step, you must define ALL the loadings that will be applied at the end of this loadstep, including loading that where applied in previous steps. This means you will need to wall your SPC in bith loadcases.
