Can you show where did you put the license file?
Do you have any Environment Variable in your machine?

My license file is on desktop i have attached photo showing environment variable

Do you get a license error with all Altair tools? please try the below
Activate by placing in security folder:
Place the license file into the Altair_installation_directory/security folder. The programs automatically look here and as long as its named correctly then you will be all set.
Default location of the Altair Security Folder shown above.

I have the exact same error! Also set the correct environmental variables, checked the ethernet ID number and moved the file into the security folder (adjusted the environmental variables and also tried when they are deleted)...still error 9 - do you know something else I could try or is my license file maybe incorrect?

If the file is placed in security folder or if the variable is set correctly and you still see the error, this would mean your ethernet ID used to request the license is not correct,
you should request for another license file with the correct ethernet ID
a sure-fire way is to use the physical address under Wireless Adapter LAN Wifi in the output of “ipconfig/all” at the command prompt
