Is it possible to use a measured distance or angle to drive a dimension?

Hello

I'm new to Inspire Studio and I come from an Autodesk Inventor background, where it's typical to reference one dimension from another dimension.
In Inspire Studio I haven't found a way of doing that, but I have found the Variable Manager instead which lets me do most of the same things.

However,  I haven't yet figured out how to measure a distance (particularly inside of a sketch) and use that distance to drive another dimension.
(in Inventor you might for example make a driven dimension and then reference it by name elsewhere to achieve that)

Hi Denis,

If you want a certain distance of a sketch to be used elsewhere, the way to do it is using the variables.

If you want the current measured value to be converted into a variable you have to:

- edit the dimension value

- click on f(x) button

- click on Create Variable from the dropdown menu

 

This will create a variable with that current value.

After that you just need to reuse the same variable anywhere you need.
