1D beam elements only displayed as nodes

Hi, I've got two models with several thousand beam elements, of which one is not being displayed as expected in Hyperview. The first image shows the model with approximately 50k beam elements which is being displayed correctly in Hyperview after a Radioss run, whereas the second image shows the model with approximately 320k beam elements which are only shown as nodes. The beam element collector does not show up in the component list as well. Very few variables (like the displacement, but not stress/strain/acceleration...) can be plotted on the beam elements of the second model. No other relevant changes apart from the beam mesh were done in the second model. I've tried several different visualization styles in the preferences to no avail. What could be the cause of this?

    Hi,

looks like the beam elements were not included in the simulation. Check the starter file (runname_0000.rad) if beam elements are even defined. It is possible the beam component was not exported/active so review with entity state browser the status of the beam component.

Sometimes there are unwanted nodes left over in the model. If you want to remove the nodes go to analysis>preserve node>clear (all) preserved

Hello Simon, you are absolutely right. I imported the beam elements from an Abaqus .inp file and simply forgot to update the section orientation and element type. Thanks again for your insight.
