Hi everyone,

i am doing a simulation on thermal analysis of resistance spot welding. it is a 2-d axisymmetric model. my question is about the dof in the spc loadcollector of the electrode. from the picture, force is applied on top of the electrode. so, what dof should be tick to make sure the force is fully distributed on the electrode to the workpiece.  thank you. hope someone can answer my problem.image

    hi

If there were contact interaction set between the parts to be welded, and contact interaction between the electrode and the workpiece, there is not need to add any SPC to the top electrode.

As it is an axysimmetric model, the only way the nodes of electrode moves in X direction, is if the electrode moves in radial direction.

To the bottom electrode, maybe you need to add spc in Y direction , to avoid the assembly rigid body movement.

    I hope this is helpful
