May I know if it is possible to define a gradient index dielectric media in FEKO? I would like to define a radial GRIN formulation for representing variation of refractive index.

    Hello shan25,

I don't have much experience with metamaterials, but FEKO does support them. However, for a gradient index media, the media properties need to change as a function of its position (correct?) and that is not supported in FEKO at the moment. FEKO only supports media properties that vary as a function of frequency.

    Hi Shan

FEKO is a very powerful tool for Microwave lens design. If the lens aperture is not very large MLFMM is a the best solver to choose for modelling dielectric lenses.

If the lens is large then RLGO is very fast and efficient way to model the lens.

A proof of concept is shown in the attached pictures. The lens is designed to have focal length of 250 mm.

    Lens Diameter:220 mm

    Thickness: 45 mm

    Frequency: 12 GHz

The index of refraction at lens center equal to 2 which means permittivity of 4.

Taken from a publication where  FEM was used for simulation ,which will be a very resource demanding computation , the RLGO simulation takes few minutes!

    Simulation results for RLGO:
