Can I track particulate energies in EDEM simulation

Hi,

I am just wondering if the user could track the energy partitions like slip friction energy, rolling friction energy, damping energy, strain energy, and  boundary energy in EDEM simulation? I used to use PFC to simulate the stress-strain behaviour and energy dissipation of granular material, the energy dissipation was introduced here: Rolling Resistance Linear Model — PFC 7.0 documentation (itascacg.com). I wonder does EDEM have a similar function?

    Hi Shijin,

     

    In the EDEM simulator you can choose 'track collisions' which record the full contact collision history of two particles or particle-geometry in contact.  From this you can export the energy losses however it runs in CPU only for the moment.  The product team are currently planning an updated energy tracking method however you can implement something in the API also.
