Realistic constraints in holes for bearings etc

I have a question about how to correctly apply a load to an RBE2 which connects to the nodes on the inside of a hole.

If this RBE2 is representing a bar in the hole, then the force should only be applied to the nodes which are under compression by the bar (in front of it marked green in the image) From what I have seen, it applies the force to all nodes selected since they are all selected. (doing as its being told to).

Is there a way to only have force applied to `arms' of the RBE which are in compression (being compressed by the bar) and anything in tension has no force applied?

I suspect there must be a better way to do this, but I can't see/find anything.

Please see the image for reference.

Thanks in advance for any help!

Regards,

Anthony

Is there a follow up to this question? I am facing the same problem.

I suppose the easiest way is to have a rigid semi-circle extrude modelling the shaft with the flat face normal to the applied force vector, which is what I am testing now.

If anyone has any other ideas, it'd be great to hear them.

    Thanks,

Hi, you should model it by CGAP elements. There is an example in HW Solver Help

I'm afraid I don't see the example, is there a way you could link a pdf version?

    Thanks,

Good Idea, but I am wondering how the load will behave on tension nodes.

CGAP is one of the solutions as @tinh suggested, or what I was thinking is of using RBE3 or MPC with zero weight factor on tension nodes.

But one can use GAP elements to apply compression only load.

Also please look in to Altair script exchange for scripts which is similar to your requirement. PFA screenshot for script id.
