Altair HyperWorks 2021 does not start
Hello,
I have installed Altair HyperWorks 2021 student edition.
When I try to start Altair HyperWorks 2021, I get the following message: "hyperworks has encountered an error and must now exit".
When I try to start Altair HyperWorks Desktop 2021, it crashes immediately.
I have already checked the following:
-the Ethernet address in the license file is the correct one and matches the one in my computer;
-I have uninstalled Altair HyperWorks 2021, downloaded new setup file and installed it again.
The issue still happens.
Can somebody please help me?
Thank you.
Best regards,
Francisco

Hello Francisco,
Can you share any screenshots so that we can help you in a better way, Do you see an error on opening HyperWorks desktop? do you see any issues with opening other tools? note that you should do an uninstall, and redownload the exe and do a clean install again if the exe was corrupted and the installation did not complete successfully.
Regards,
Sourav

The same issue here. I downloaded the executable file second time. Uninstalled and installed again. I checked the license file. When I try to run the program as a administrator, or other way, the program does not comes. It shows grey interface of general hyperwork's programs, then suddenly goes without showing the program.

Hello,
Same problem here!
I have tried to unistall, delete all files, download files and do again a clean installation of the software...
I have tried to update windows and GPU drivers...
I have tried in another laptop with same license file but with new IP...
I have tried changing my GPU...
The problem always persists.
It is a strange problem because I have tried to install and use another Altair software like INSPIRE and it works correctly, only Hyperworks doesn`t work.
Hyperworks app shows the same error and Hyperworks Desktop crashes when is opening.
Please, I need help with this...

It is possible that the executable/s was corrupted on download, and hence you will need to completely uninstall the software and redownload the executables, and It is important first to try deleting the downloaded file and downloading it again.
If you still face issues, to make sure the file is not damaged on download, run an md5 checksum on the downloaded file (google md5 checksum):
- Double click / run the Winmd5 checksum executable (download win md5 a freeware from the internet, please note we cannot be responsible for external content and info)
- Select the executable by clicking on the Browse button or drag and drop the file into the window
- After running the MD5 checksum on your computer, kindly see if your MD5 checksum value matches the one here: a60e6c3dea8b8390c9152d6c5de81fc9
The above one is for HyperWorks Bundle .exe file.
Also close all the HW Apps > delete the .altair folder and other settings files (the files in the locations in the image below) > restart the app
You also need to check if your graphics card and driver are supported as per the Altair Simulation Hardware support document

Hello,
I have tried with another HW version (from 2019) and the problem continues.
I have also done the md5 checksum and the value number is the same. I did this because another Altair technical staff told me.
I have also deleted the files you are telling me.
My GPU is a GTX 1650 super which I think it should be strong enaugh to run the software. Moreover it runs other softwares like INSPIRE, CATIA, Siemens NX...
I don't understand why is crashing again and again...

Today I realized something.
When I try to open the program from windows Start, it down not show up. When I go to file destination, the run as administrator Hyperworks Desktop runs. Then it show the error message: unsupported graphic card. Then I try to open hypermesh in the hyperworks desktop, the program crashes.
I think the main problem is from graphic cards. My graphic card is also powerful one. But since it is not supported, (I think) program crashes. But before my computer, I used hypermesh even bad graphic cards. But the program runs well.
Please help us to solve this issue.

Yes, I realized the same.
When I try to open from the file destination, the warning message about the graphic card also appears to me. But I think this is a default message because I have tried to change my GPU for an older GPU (GTX 750) and the problem is the same. I have also tried in a laptop with an Intel i5 CPU and a Nvidia 960m GPU and the problem is also the same...
Moreover, I have a classmate who sometimes gets the same warning message on her pc, but she can run the software...
This is hilarous...

Can you guys double check if when launching HyperWorks, it is indeed using the dedicated graphic card?
Many times i've faced issues with users that had both dedicated nvidia cardsm and onboard video too, but for some reason HW was using the onboard one instead of the dedicated.
In these cases, usually i try to force nvidia control panel to use always 'high performance' settings to all programs and make sure the dedicated graphic card is used.

Hello Adriano,
Yes, I have checked that HW is running with the dedicated GPU...
Therefore, I have tried to run the software in 3 different hardwares...
Best regards.
