How to simulate rubber material for solid element in NVH simulation?
Hello,
Currently I am building a VTF simulation model to calculate vibration and I am having a hard time simulating the rubber material for the solid element of the damper. I can simulate rubber material through 1D element - CBUSH, but with solid element I really don't know how.
I want to ask if it is possible to simulate elastic material like rubber for solid element? and if so, how?
Thank you very much.

Hi Tung,
You can use hyperelastic materials for rubber.
OptiStruct support some models of hyperelastic materials:
- Mooney-Rivlin
- Yeoh
- Arruda-Boyce
- Ogden
- HyperFoam
- Several other types of mathematical models.
You can create hyperelastic material through MATHE card and PLSOLID for solid element as an image below:
Thanks.

Hi Brian,
Thank you so much for answer my question. I have also read through a few documents related to elastic material simulation through the MATHE card. But it seems this card is only suitable for nonlinear simulation, while I am doing VTF simulation. Perhaps using 1D element as CBUSH and CVISC is suitable for simulation for rubber material.
Thanks.
