Difference Element Stresses & Composite Stresses
Hello,
I am doing a composite laminate analysis of the resulting stresses.
Could someone explain to me what the difference between the result types Element Stresses (2D & 3D) and Composite Stresses is?
When I am selecting the result type Element Stresses and P1 (major) and select the top layer of my laminate, shouldn't it be the same values as when I am selecting Composite Stresses and then the ply that is on the top of the laminate?
Somehow the values are different or I do not get the difference between those two result types.
Thank you in advance!
Kind regards,
Raphael

Hello Rafael,
as stated in the CSTRESS online help (https://help.altair.com/hwsolvers/os/topics/solvers/os/cstress_io_r.htm?zoom_highlight=composite+stress), the STRESS I/O option (for element stress) controls the output of stress results for the homogenized composite material.
Does that help?
Michael
