Nonlinear contact (frctional) and material nonlinear (Elastic-plastic) for direct transient response analysis

Hello.

I want to implement a direct transient response analysis of an assembly. Since, it is an assembly of few parts and I am more interested in the area near the contact surfaces and that is why I am opting for direct transient response method, rather than modal transient response method. According to theory, direct method supports nonlinearities in the model, so, can I include frictional nonlinearity and material nonlinearity into the model for direct frequency response analysis? And anything that I should take care about?

Thanks and regards,

Debarshi

You could continue with the nonlinear transient analysis procedure. Just don't forget to define load collectors like nlparm. Activate param-lgdisp control card if needed.

    I hope this helps
