Altair HyperWorks Student Edition in Virtual Machine

Hello everyone,

I'm trying to get the HW Student Edition running in a virtual machine (OS: Windows 10 Pro).
For virtualization I'm using Hyper-V with the MAC-adress set to static.

I allready followed all the steps listed in the basic troubleshooting guide. I checked wether the MAC-adress in the altair_lic.dat file is correct and tryed different directories for the license-file. However I still get the following error message:

Altair License Manager: License error  Feature(s): GlobalZoneEU, HyperWorks, HWHyperMesh Error Code: 9 Error Description: Feature not found  Feature: HyperMesh Error Code: 9 Error Description: [LOCAL] C:\Users\wst\HW_License\altair_lic.dat - (Err: 9) Feature not found  License Path: C:/Program Files/Altair/2021-edu/hwdesktop/../security/altair_lic.dat;C:\Users\wst\HW_License\altair_lic.dat

Maybe its relevant that the host-ID tool provided on the license-registration-page didn't recognize a MAC-adress. I had to use ipconfig/all.

So are there any known issues with running the student edition in VMs?
Does anyone know a sollution to my problem?

    HI,

    The student edition is a standalone license, to be used at the machine and does not support VM, 

    You are allowed to request for another license to your other computer as a special case if you cannot access the machine the license was initially provided for, request for the other license here https://studentedition.altair.com/ mention why in the note, this is subject to approval by the account manager.
