Hi All,

Is there a tool in HW2020 and/or Simlab to create a common mesh at the interface between two bodies for a subsequent non-linear contact definition?

Thanks in advance

In SimLab you can use the 'Join' command (use Ctrl+F). for a given tolerance, it will find mathcing faces, and merge them using the same mesh pattern.

Then, if you want them to be separated later, use the 'Separate' toolbar. It will create a coincident mesh, but with separate nodes.

For more complex cases, when "join" does not work, please use the REPLACE FACE  command to copy the face(s) of one body into the other.
Advantage: robust, works for any kind of face  shape
Disadvantage: you have to select manually the face to imprint, and the face to imprint must be "smaller" than the destination body
