Hi,

I would like to define damping coefficient on PARAM card (G), I commonly place the usual value on the card depending of the product that I am evaluating, for example interior parts I use 3%, so on PARAM card I define on G option 3%:

But on due the next article: Frequency Response Analysis (altair.com) , I was told that it is necessary do multiply this value by 2, in order G can be considered in its full value:

Also notice this description:

Could you please let me know your common practices regarding Uniform damping input on PARAM card (G )?

Thanks in advance!!

Regards!

    Hi Andres,

If you are using PARAM,G then it is Global damping and in usual practice we suggest the value as 0.06.

If you are using CRIT, which is critical damping, you can enter the value as 0.03.

You can go through the attached pdf to know more on damping theory.

    Thanks
