Revolute Joint - Statik Stifness Problem
Hi,
I would like to model a door latch mechanism with pin wrapped a spring as below. So I read in radioss book and hyperworks help that it is recommended to use a Type spring 8 to represent a revolute joint.
But as you guess, that type of spring has tension in the static state, and as it rotates its tension increases. So how I implement this situation for pin surrounded with spring in Radioss?
Thanks in advance.

Hi Omer Faruk GUMUS,
This query was already treated:
https://community.altair.com/community?id=community_question&sys_id=274604b61b2bd0908017dc61ec4bcb44Pin hinge with torsions spring can be modeled with type 13 spring in combination with a preloading function (torque vs. angle) defined in the appropriate rotational DOF.
The same can probably be done with type 8 spring.

Hi,
What is the objective of the analysis?
If OK, you can try with MotionView and MotionSolve

Hi,
I have made 3 simple models to show the different ways to simulate preloaded spring hinge in Radioss using Type 8, 13 and Kjoint2 springs.
